Despite having a heart of gold, 14-year-old Brad Farbstein faces the daily challenges of a rare skeletal condition that has resulted (and will continue to result) in ongoing orthopedic issues and surgeries.
But metatropic dysplasia, a form of dwarfism that causes major skeletal changes throughout one’s life, has not slowed Brad down yet. And he doesn’t plan on giving up any time soon.
With hopes to one day become a news anchor, Brad is just asking for a little help to keep him on the move.
Because his bone structure is weakened by his condition, walking for long periods of time is not only exhausting, it’s painful and harmful. And, unfortunately, wheelchairs or hover-rounds are too cumbersome due to their weight – they also mean too much sitting for Brad, which is just as detrimental as walking long distances.
So Brad’s got his eye on a solution that will help him balance the standing and sitting in his life, as well as keep up with his peers: a Segway.
Thanks to a partnership with Segway of Richmond, Brad is close to meeting his goal of purchasing a custom Segway to call his own. But he still needs your help.
