A Journey to Become More Mobile

Brad_CBS6 Interview

Despite having a heart of gold, 14-year-old Brad Farbstein faces the daily challenges of a rare skeletal condition that has resulted (and will continue to result) in ongoing orthopedic issues and surgeries.

But metatropic dysplasia, a form of dwarfism that causes major skeletal changes throughout one’s life, has not slowed Brad down yet. And he doesn’t plan on giving up any time soon.

With hopes to one day become a news anchor, Brad is just asking for a little help to keep him on the move.

Because his bone structure is weakened by his condition, walking for long periods of time is not only exhausting, it’s painful and harmful. And, unfortunately, wheelchairs or hover-rounds are too cumbersome due to their weight – they also mean too much sitting for Brad, which is just as detrimental as walking long distances.

So Brad’s got his eye on a solution that will help him balance the standing and sitting in his life, as well as keep up with his peers: a Segway.

Thanks to a partnership with Segway of Richmond, Brad is close to meeting his goal of purchasing a custom Segway to call his own. But he still needs your help.

Visit the store today to purchase RVA magnets ($6 ea.) or make a donation to Help Brad Move. Every little bit of support makes a huge difference.

Want to Keep Your Car Clean?

For Virginians – especially Richmonders – customizing one’s ride through vanity plates, family car decals, honor roll bumper stickers and alumni memorabilia seems to be so normal that it’s abnormal to have a clean car. Every now and then, you’ll even see a car that’s clad with so many window decals and bumper stickers that you can’t even fathom where to begin.

If anything, one thing of all this can be said: We Richmonders respect our cars and take pride in how they’re decorated.

So, even if you don’t want to clutter your car with one (or yet another) decal,  you can still help out Brad’s cause through a simple donation of your choice. That’s why we’ve set up a Pledgie. You choose the donation you’re comfortable with pledging to the cause and you’ve done just as much good (or more) than purchasing one of our RVA stickers.

To pledge to our cause today, just visit: https://pledgie.com/campaigns/23232

WTVR CBS6 Helps Brad Get a “Lift”

Brad and his mother, Sylvia, were recently featured on WTVR CBS6 news to promote the advocacy of his cause – to both raise funds for Brad’s Segway and increase awareness of metatropic dysplasia.

Check out the video below to see Brad strut his “vocal stuff” and discuss what the Help Brad Move cause means to him.
